Welcome to PBFC!

Padang Botak Football Club (PBFC) was founded in the year 2000. It all started with a bunch of young, football enthusiasts who played football at a relatively unknown open field within Tampines Park, Singapore. Word spread like wildfire and soon enough, more young footballers took to the field every evening to play their favourite game.

The name ‘Padang Botak’ which means ‘bald field’ in Malay is self-explanatory to those young lads at that time. The open field which they played on everyday became rather ’exhausted,’ and within a short matter of time, grass on large parts of the field were gone. So there you have it, the name for the field founded by the lads themselves.

Today, those young lads have grown into talented footballers. The boys have now become men. Countless friendly matches and a few tournaments together not only gelled them together as a team, it also strengthened their friendships and brotherhood.

The team has been officially formed since, and is looking forward to play in many more friendly matches and amatuer football leagues in Singapore, in the near future.

Position: Centre Forward/Centre Midfield
Age: 26

Arguably one of the more experienced players in PBFC, Muhd Firdaus’ strengths are his game awareness and playmaking ability. When deployed as a centre forward, Muhd Firdaus takes up good goal scoring positions and holds the ball very well. His awareness of the whereabouts of defenders closing down on him always makes him a free target for his team mates to play the pass into. In midfield, he is able to slow the game down and dictate the tempo. Although he is currently out recovering from a knee injury, his return to the team will be a boost to his team mates.

Position: Centre Forward

Another senior member of PBFC, Nor Azhar used to make the right side of midfield his own. However, his goal-scoring prowess blossomed and it became hard to ignore him a role in the striking deparment. Usually one of the first names on the team sheet, Nor Azhar offers pace, power and shooting accuracy. This hardworking centre forward leads the line well for PBFC and an impressive goal return only enhances his reputation. Definitely one of the more respected figures in a relatively young team.

Ariff Azhar

Position: Centre Forward/Attacking Midfield
Age: 22

A senior member of PBFC, Ariff Azhar is one of the more experienced centre forwards in PBFC. Power, pace and a never-say-die attitude are his key strengths. Comfortable as a centre forward or as an attacking midfielder, Ariff Azhar is one the hardworking players on the field. A good goal return for someone usually used in a withdrawn role is always encouraging. More game experience as a centre forward will further enhance his finishing and goal scoring ability. One to watch.

Position: Centre Forward
Age: 18

Another youth product of PBFC, Abdul Aleem came to PBFC at a much younger age. Pace and strength are two attributes worthy to be mentioned to describe this player. However, his ultimate trait is his never-say-die attitude. Not one to give up and drag his legs when a game is lost, Abdul Aleem can always be seen as chasing lost causes. At the same age with fellow youngster Nor Aiman, both these young centre forwards have the talent to be strike partners in the future for PBFC.

Position: Centre Forward
Age: 18

For someone relatively very young, Nor Aiman packs awesome power in his shooting. It is a fair argument to say he boasts one of the most powerful shots from that lethal right foot. What he lacks in experience and pace, his strength, bravery and power help him during a game. Although he has not made the striking department his own, with hard work and determination to be a better player, it is only a matter of time before this powerful centre forward is on the first team sheet.

Position: Left Midfield/Attacking Midfield
Age: 22

Possibly the most skillful attacking player in PBFC’s attacking department. Close dribbling ability, body balance, strength and self-confidence are key attributes of this skillful left footer. Equally comfortable playing on the left wing or in the centre, Nurrizzat has become one of PBFC’s key players. His fearless approach in taking on defenders time and again has made him one of the players to watch during games.

Position: Defensive Midfield/Attacking Midfield
Age: 24

Muhd Halil is PBFC’s captain and leader. He has been around since the beginning. His experience of playing for and captaining the Temasek Polytechnic school team puts him in good stead to guide the younger players around him on the pitch. Reverting to a deeper midfield role now, Muhd Halil’s through passes serve as a focal point for many of PBFC’s attacking moves.

Position: Defensive Midfield
Age: 20

Another hardman in PBFC’s armoury. Muhd Radzi has improved tremendously over the years at PBFC. He has added composure, aggressiveness and passing into his game. His partnership with Mohd Hail in the centre of the park has become a key component in PBFC’ first team. Muhd Radzi also offers a bit of creativity in the midfield. His will to win physical challenges is his most obvious strength. A few years of footballing experience at one of Singapore’s ITE institutes definitely helped his progress.

Mohd Hail Bin Ahmad

Position: Defensive Midfield
Age: 22

Mohd Hail is a vital part of the PBFC team. His role as a defensive midfielder helps free up other attack-minded team mates during a game. Strength, composure and tackling are his main attributes. He does about his job as required during games and always puts in a good shift. A consistent performer, he is one player hard to ignore in the starting eleven. When available, Mohd Hail usually is one of the first names on the teamsheet on game days. Not one to back away from physical confrontation either.

Muhd Rafiq Bin Ramlee

Position: Right Midfield/Centre Midfield
Age: 22

Muhd Rafiq was introduced to PBFC by fellow team mate Nor Amin. He is a versatile player, but his most suited position is on the right side of midfield. He had a few stints with a former S-League youth team Balestier Central FC and a few years during his school days at Temasek Polytechnic. Those vital few years certainly moulded him into a better player. Rafiq’s strengths are his impressive workrate, goal-scoring and self-confidence.
